Lolo is a 24 year-old DJ who wants to share her passion and energy for Amapiano to audiences around the world while introducing and establishing the genre in Switzerland.

Together we have created a brand that reflects her vibrant personality, her cultural roots and her musical talent.

Her passion for DJing was ignited in a small store in Biel/Bienne, where she started playing Dancehall and discovered her love for mixing and performing. In November 2023, she officially launched her DJ career, focusing on Afrobeats and, most notably, Amapiano - a genre she fell in love with for its energy, rhythm, and vibrant essence.

Lolo’s performances are much more than just DJ sets. She brings an unmatched energy to every stage, combining her skills as a DJ with dynamic dancing and audience interaction that create an electrifying atmosphere. Her charisma and animation make her a standout performer in the Swiss club scene.

The chosen colour palette shows vibrancy, strength, and confidence, perfectly reflecting Lolo's own bold energy.

Gabarito is a clean and confident font that again reflects Lolo's bold personality while maintaining a professional and approachable feel. It gives the energy of Lolo’s personality a grounded tone.

Pacifico is reserved for highlighted words, such as locations in social media posts, to add a playful and distinctive touch. Its handwritten and flowing style brings a sense of warmth and individuality to the branding, reflecting Lolo’s creative spirit and personal connection to her audience.

The brand and colours are best complemented by black and white photography. Colour images with a warm and vintage look also align beautifully with the aesthetic.

The thoughts behind the logomark.

We wanted to create a brand and logomark that really reflects Lolo's personality.

Lolo was born in Yaoundé, the capital city of Cameroon. We have incorporated the star from the country's flag to symbolise her deep connection with this vibrant place and Amapiano music.

 

Lolo is a star herself. Stars symbolise excellence, energy, and recognition. They represent a shining presence, much like the DJ who lights up the dancefloor and guides the audience through feelings of freedom and celebration. A star reflects the DJ’s role as a leader in music, bringing people together through unity, passion, and entertainment, while standing out as a symbol of brilliance.

Drawn with a watercolour brush, the letter "L" reflects a sense of creativity and individuality. Its fluid, textured strokes give it a handwritten feel, adding warmth and character.

The letter is incorporated into the star to form this distinctive logomark. It makes a perfect balance between the boldness of the sharp and evenly pointed star, and the creativity of the hand-drawn "L".

The decision to hyphenate the name "Lolo" was inspired by the way Lolo’s supporters chant her name at her performances. The rhythmic repetition - "Lo-Lo, Lo-Lo, Lo-Lo" - has become a distinctive expression of their encouragement, and its use here captures the energy and connection of those moments.

 

To build on this energy, we added an inflate effect to the lettering, giving it a playful, bold feel that reflects Lolo’s bubbly and lively character. This combination brings the design to life, mirroring both the warmth of her supporters and her own vibrant character.

The star was carefully positioned to create a balanced and harmonious logomark. We placed it under the first "L" and to the left of the second "LO" with a slight rotation. This arrangement helps to visually anchor the design while adding a dynamic touch. The positioning of the star complements the flow of the lettering, ensuring that the overall logo feels cohesive and well-proportioned.

We chose red as the core colour for Lolo’s branding because it perfectly embodies her vibrant personality and the essence of her music. Red symbolises passion, power, and energy, reflecting Lolo’s drive and her ability to captivate and inspire. It also conveys love, enthusiasm, and confidence, aligning with the emotional connection she shares with her audience. The bold and solid nature of red mirrors her unwavering presence and strength, making it the ideal colour to represent her brand.

Having laid the foundation we could now begin, with the help of an Aperol Spritz, to explore potential design directions. This phase wasn't about getting straight to the perfect solution, but more about identifying what we definitely didn’t want and understanding why, allowing us to refine and focus on other possibilities and ideas.

Based on Lolo's thoughts on the moodboards and our sense of what could work as a design, I started to explore first logo ideas.

Now, let’s take a look into the process behind the creation of this brand.

The first crucial step was to understand and define who Lolo really is, who she aspires to become, and how she wants to be perceived by her audience, business partners, and booking agents.

Lolo really liked the concept of the red LO-LO, but wanted to see how it would work with the different stars I had designed. And from there I kept refining and trying out what could work best, while always keeping the values we wanted to communicate in the back of my mind.

Having settled on the basic design, we continued to fine-tune it and consider how it could work in everyday situations. It took a few attempts until we found the perfect red.

Insights into the final brand identity.

The final step was presenting the brand identity with its brand guide and creating all of the templates and files.

This year I decided to focus on sharpening my appearance as a DJ and professionalising my entire image. I asked louisplant.ch to help me with this and I couldn't be happier! 


Louis Plant Schneeberger understood me perfectly not only as a DJ but also as an artist and brought my vision to life in his vision. His expertise and creativity absolutely impressed me.

Lolo needed a website on which she could list her shows and provide event managers with an easy way to book her.

A Linktree proved to be the ideal solution, allowing us to showcase her shows, provide contact options for bookings, and link to her social media, Spotify, and Soundcloud profiles, all at a low cost and with little effort.

To enhance her branding and avoid relying on the standard Linktree link, we registered the custom domain www.amalolo.com, which seamlessly redirects to her Linktree.

The star symbolises Lolo’s qualities and roots, and the hand-drawn “L” that passes through it expresses her original, creative style. The combination of lines results in a modern, versatile logo ideal for a wide range of uses.
